I create my my kitchen items from either an earthenware clay or porcelain clay. I create each piece by using my hands to pinch form or from slabs of clay. I add all layers, textures, and details to the piece as the original idea evolves. Once the piece is dry (usually 7 t0 10 days) they are fired in my studio kiln to bisque (1855 degrees Fahrenheit). When cool, I hand paint each piece with several colors and layers of glaze. The pieces are then fired again to over 2200 degrees Fahrenheit for porcelain and over 1800 degrees for earthenware. All items are food safe and dishwasher safe although I hand wash my personal pieces. Because I do not use molds in my work, each item is a unique, one of a kind piece of art!
