Garden Markers measure approximately 1" x 4" x .25" and are created from stoneware clay. I create my garden markers from slabs of clay that I shape and then stamp and freehand carve the herb names as decoration. Once the pieces are dry (usually 7 to 10 days) they are fired in my studio kiln to bisque (1928 degrees Fahrenheit). When cool, I hand paint each piece with several colors and layers of food safe glaze. The pieces are then fired again to 2205 degrees Fahrenheit. Colors and textures may vary from example.
